Islamic perspective on the destruction of oppressive nations

   Is it permissible, according to Islamic teachings, to express happiness over the fire in America? Since last Tuesday, a fire has been raging in Los Angeles, America. Some of our people are expressing happiness over it, while others feel sorrow and sympathize with the Americans. So, is it permissible according to Sharia to be happy about it or not? The Quran, the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and the practices of the righteous predecessors testify that it is permissible for Muslims to express happiness over the punishment of disbelievers sent by Allah, as it signifies deliverance from their evil. However, unnecessary grief over the destruction of disbelievers and praying for them is considered inappropriate and impermissible in the light of the Quran and Sunnah.
